Before we teaching we already have two times of trial teaching with our mentor, Teacher Dona. Our lesson plan also have revised couple a times. We used videos of nursery songs that related to Action Words. For the opening and catch the children attention, we sing Good Morning Song. And then we continue to Walking-walking Song that contain an action words “walk, jump, hop, swim, tip toe”. For the development section we explain more about action words with action, we ask student to do the action together. And for the more development we put some question about action words , the children can answer yes or no. For example “Can you walk?”, “can you swim?” , “can you fly?”, and etc. At the end of the learning, we gave the student worksheet to do for their evaluation about the topic Action Words that they just learned.
April and I devided our part for teaching. April will do the opening, and I will do development activities, for the Action words games we do together, and the closing will be done by April, by given the children worksheet. When I do my part for teaching, April will manage the children to keep focus on the learning, so do I when April do her part for teaching.
About the games that we used to our teaching is we choose some action words “jump, hop, swim, waddle, clap”. And we make a 5 section : first section is, jump 5 times ; second section is hop until the next section ; third section is swim around the chair, fourth section is waddle until the next section, and last section is clap 3 times. We divided the class into two team, boys and girls. And they have to compete, for those team that can finish first, will get the stars.
Media that we used for teaching is videos of nursery song and flashcards for the games and explain the action words. Action words that we choose is jump, hop, walk, run, tip toe, swim, fly, waddle, hug, climb, clap. Nursery songs that we used related to the topic and action words that we choose. The reason why we used videos, because when children see the action live, it will help them to understand more about the topic. Also we ask the children do the action words together with us.
